
Dacia, a state-owned Romanian company based in Pitesti, began manufacturing Renault 8 under license in 1966 (renamed Dacia 1100) and Renault 12 in 1969 (renamed Dacia 1300).
The Renault group invested 489 million euros over a five-year period to upgrade Dacia, modernizing production facilities, improving quality, training personnel, improving working conditions, renovating premises, upgrading IT equipment and installing assembly lines for Renault engines and gearboxes.
SuperNova was the first car released after Dacia signed with Renault. It was replaced by the Solenza in 2003.
This vehicle, at the heart of the strategy to conquer emerging markets, was the result of close cooperation between Dacia and the engineering teams at the Technocentre. Today Logan is also a Van, a Pick-up and a MCV.
